If you are a LEGO fan in Japan, you probably have Yoshikazu Saito's first Green Book "Let's Play with Blocks," and just this past December he released a second book, this time a Red Book, "Cont. Let's Play with Blocks!"
Even if you don't read Japanese, the pictures and techniques shown really give an excellent example of the high level of LEGO builders that can be found in Japan. Both have sections devoted to various builders with close-up shots of unique and interesting techniques. Even the LEGO Builder Kazuyoshi Naoe recommends this book.
As a bonus the inside of the wrap around outer cover of the Green Book is side view graph paper, the Red Book has stud view graph paper and a paper stud ruler! All great for drawing designs and visualizing models before starting to build them!
If you are in Japan, any major bookstore should carry this, or stop by your local ClickBrick. Even if you are not in Japan, it is still possible to order this from Amazon.co.jp. If you don't read/write Japanese, just click on the "In English" tag in the upper right of the site and one can search and place orders. The ISBN-13 for the Red Book is 978-4883376285. For the Green Book it is 978-4883375967. (I don't know why Amazon.com doesn't carry these, an ISBN is an "International Standard Book Number" after all, and Amazon.co.jp carries lots of English books as well as books in other languages.....) Red Book Direct Link. Green Book Direct Link
Anyway, get these books! You won't be disappointed! Thank you Saito-san for these great LEGO books!
Hi there,
Thanks for your post.
I'd love to find out about translating these books into English to add to our growing line of LEGO titles. Do you know how to contact the publisher? I tried through their Japanese site but their Contact form gave an error.
Thanks!
